About sheet protectors

A sheet protector is a clear sleeve, usually polypropylene, sized for an 8.5x11 in page with a punched binding edge that fits standard three-ring binders. Top-loading protectors open at the top; side-loading protectors open along the long edge. Polypropylene is acid-free and will not lift ink or toner off a page, which is why it has replaced PVC for archival use. Gauge, or thickness, ranges from economy to super heavyweight; heavier sleeves stay flatter and last longer.

Finish matters for how a page reads. Diamond Clear or clear finish gives the sharpest view for presentations and client books. Non-glare or matte finish cuts reflection under office lighting and photographs better. High-capacity protectors have an expanding gusset to hold whole reports, and Corner Lock sleeves use a diagonal corner slit instead of a flap so a page slides in and stays put. Business card pages hold 10 or 20 cards on a punched sheet, and photo pages hold standard print sizes.

Offices use sheet protectors for proposals, procedure manuals, menus and reference binders that get handled daily. Schools sleeve reusable worksheets, class rosters and student portfolios. Facility and janitorial teams post MSDS sheets, cleaning schedules and safety notices in adhesive wall pockets. When buying, match the sleeve to the binder size, pick a gauge that fits how often pages are handled, and buy in 50- to 200-count boxes for binders you build often.

Sheet Protectors buying guide

How to pick the right sheet protectors and pack size.

  1. Choose the gauge for the job

Economy and standard-weight protectors are fine for pages that sit in a binder on a shelf. Heavyweight and super heavyweight sleeves stay flat, resist creasing and hold up to daily flipping, so use them for menus, manuals and anything in a classroom.

  2. Clear vs non-glare finish

Clear finish shows color and fine text best and is the standard for presentations. Non-glare finish diffuses reflections from overhead lights and is easier to read in bright rooms or to photocopy through. Both are acid-free polypropylene.

  3. Top-load, side-load or Corner Lock

Top-loading protectors are the standard and keep pages in while the binder stands. Side-loading sleeves make it faster to swap pages. Corner Lock sleeves hold a page by a corner slit so nothing slips out, useful for binders carried in the field.

  4. Capacity for reports and handouts

A standard protector holds one to three sheets. High-capacity sleeves with a gusset hold 25 to 50 sheets and work for stapled reports, booklets and brochures. Count the thickest item you plan to store before choosing.

  5. Buy by the box

Avery sheet protectors come in boxes of 25, 50, 100 and 200, and business card pages in 10- and 25-packs. If you build binders regularly, 100- and 200-count boxes bring the per-sleeve cost down, and business members can order full cases at wholesale.

Sheet Protectors: questions, answered

Straight answers about buying sheet protectors from SNILLC.

Are the sheet protectors on SNILLC genuine brand products?

Yes. Every sheet protector and sleeve SNILLC sells is a new, genuine Avery, Charles Leonard, GBC or Wilson Jones product in original manufacturer packaging.

Can I buy sheet protectors in bulk or wholesale?

Yes. Business members with a $49 per year membership get wholesale and case-pack pricing on sheet protectors. For 6 or more boxes or pallet quantities, request a bulk quote from the cart and SNILLC will price the order.

Which brands of sheet protectors does SNILLC carry?

Avery makes up almost the whole category, with more than 40 Avery sheet protectors, business card pages, photo sleeves and display pockets. SNILLC also carries sleeves from Charles Leonard, GBC and Wilson Jones.

Do you ship sheet protectors nationwide and how fast?

Yes. SNILLC ships sheet protectors to all 50 states from Rancho Cordova, California, with tracking on every order. Ready-to-ship items leave fastest. SNILLC does not ship outside the USA.

Is there a minimum order for sheet protectors?

No. Retail shoppers can buy a single box, with free shipping at $60 or more and $9.99 under that. Business members have no minimum, though case-pack pricing applies to full cases and bulk quotes start at 6 packs.

What is the difference between heavyweight and super heavyweight sheet protectors?

Gauge is the thickness of the polypropylene. Heavyweight sleeves are stiffer than standard and resist creasing; super heavyweight sleeves are the thickest Avery makes and stay flat under daily handling. Use heavier gauges for menus, manuals and classroom pages.

Will sheet protectors damage printed pages or photos?

No. Avery sheet protectors are acid-free, archival-safe polypropylene that will not lift ink, toner or photo emulsion. Avoid vinyl or PVC sleeves for long-term storage, since those can transfer plasticizer onto a page over time.

How many business cards fit on an organizer page?

Avery clear business card organizer pages hold 20 standard 2x3.5 in cards, 10 per side. Pages are punched for three-ring binders, so a 1 in binder of 25 pages holds about 500 cards.

Do sheet protectors fit every 3-ring binder?

Standard 8.5x11 in protectors fit any letter-size three-ring binder, including Avery, Five Star and ACCO. They are a little wider than paper, so a binder of sleeved pages fills up faster than one of loose pages. Legal and mini binders need protectors made for those sizes.
