About sticky notes

A self-stick note is a pad of paper with a band of low-tack, repositionable adhesive along one edge. It sticks to paper, monitors, doors and whiteboards, peels off without residue and can usually be moved several times. Post-it, a 3M brand, defined the product and remains the dominant name. Standard sizes are 1.5 x 2, 3 x 3, 3 x 5 and 4 x 6 inches; pads typically hold 90 or 100 sheets and are sold singly or in multi-packs of 3 to 24 pads.

Super Sticky notes use a stronger adhesive that holds on vertical surfaces, textured walls, fabric cubicle panels and outdoors in mild conditions where regular notes fall off. Big Notes at 11 x 11 inches and larger easel pads are built for agile boards, brainstorms and training rooms. Page flags are narrow film strips with adhesive on half their length, so they mark a page while leaving the writing visible; tabs are wider, writable and used to divide binders and files.

Offices use sticky notes for phone messages, reminders and routing documents, and flags for signature and review lines on contracts. Schools and teachers use shaped and pastel pads for feedback and classroom activities. Project teams and designers cover walls with Super Sticky pads during planning sessions. When buying, consider size, adhesive strength, color scheme (bright, pastel, canary, or recycled) and pad count per pack, since multi-packs lower the per-pad price.

Sticky Notes buying guide

How to pick the right sticky notes and pack size.

  1. Pick the right size

3 x 3 inch pads are the all-purpose desk note. 1.5 x 2 inch pads suit short reminders and marking pages. 4 x 6 pads give room for lists and are often lined. 11 x 11 Big Notes and easel pads are for walls and meetings.

  2. Regular vs Super Sticky adhesive

Standard Post-it adhesive is ideal on paper, desks and monitors and moves cleanly. Super Sticky holds roughly twice as well, so it stays on walls, doors, fabric panels and textured surfaces. Use Super Sticky for anything that must stay put for days or hang vertically.

  3. Flags vs tabs

Flags are narrow, semi-transparent film strips for marking a line or page without covering text; they come in dispensers and sign-here styles. Tabs are wider, opaque and writable, meant to label binder sections or file dividers. Both are repositionable.

  4. Colors and visibility

Canary yellow is the traditional office color and reads well on any desk. Bright and neon sets stand out on crowded boards. Pastel and soft colors are easier to write on with pen and photograph well. Match colors to a coding system if teams share boards.

  5. Pad counts and bulk packs

Most pads hold 90 or 100 sheets. Retail packs run 3 to 5 pads; office packs run 12, 18 or 24 pads, and cases hold multiple packs. Per-pad cost drops sharply in 12-pad and larger packs, which is where business members see the biggest savings.

Sticky Notes: questions, answered

Straight answers about buying sticky notes from SNILLC.

Are the sticky notes on SNILLC genuine Post-it brand products?

Yes. Every item is new, genuine and in original manufacturer packaging. Of the 62 products in the category, 49 are Post-it brand from 3M, with the rest from Avery, Highland and Scotch. SNILLC does not sell generic or relabeled sticky notes.

Can I buy sticky notes in bulk or wholesale?

Yes. Business members pay wholesale and case-pack prices on 12, 18 and 24 pad packs and flag multi-packs. For 6 or more packs or a pallet, use Request a bulk quote in the cart. Membership is $49 per year and may require a resale certificate or EIN.

Which brands of sticky notes does SNILLC carry?

Post-it is the main brand with 49 items, including Notes, Super Sticky Notes, Big Notes, flags and tabs. Avery adds 11 sticky note products, and Highland and Scotch each contribute one. Together they cover 3x3, 4x6, shaped pads, flags and tabs.

Do you ship sticky notes nationwide and how fast?

SNILLC ships within the United States only, from Rancho Cordova, California, with tracking on every order. Ready to Ship items leave fastest. Delivery time depends on the carrier and your distance from Northern California.

Is there a minimum order for sticky notes?

No. Retail shoppers can buy a single pack. Shipping is free at $60 or more and $9.99 under that. Business members have no minimum, though bulk quotes are intended for 6 or more packs or pallet quantities.

What is the difference between Post-it Notes and Post-it Super Sticky Notes?

Super Sticky Notes use a stronger adhesive that holds about twice as well, so they stay on walls, doors, fabric panels and textured or vertical surfaces. Regular Post-it Notes are made for paper, desks and monitors and move more freely. Both remove cleanly.

What are Post-it flags used for and how are they different from tabs?

Flags are narrow, semi-transparent strips that mark a line or page without covering text, often used for signatures and review points. Tabs are wider, opaque and writable, used to label sections in binders and files. Both peel off without damaging the page.

Which sticky notes work best for schools and teachers?

Teachers tend to use shaped pads such as the Post-it daisy notes, pastel 3x3 multi-packs and lined 4x6 pads for feedback, exit tickets and reading logs. Super Sticky Big Notes are useful for anchor charts and group work on classroom walls.

How long do sticky notes stay sticky in storage?

Unopened pads keep their adhesive for years at room temperature. Avoid storing them in heat, direct sun or dusty areas, which weaken the glue. Keep pads in their wrap until needed and store them flat.

Will Post-it Notes leave residue on walls or monitors?

No. Post-it adhesive is designed to remove cleanly from paper, painted walls, glass and monitors. Super Sticky Notes also come off cleanly from most surfaces, though on freshly painted or delicate wallpaper it is wise to test one note first.
