About Zebra Pen

Zebra Co., Ltd. was founded in Tokyo in 1897 and is one of Japan's oldest pen manufacturers. Zebra Pen Corporation, its US subsidiary based in New Jersey, sells the line in North America. The brand is best known for the F-301, a stainless steel retractable ballpoint introduced in the 1970s that became a standard issue pen in offices, hospitals and the military because the metal barrel does not crack and the refill is cheap to replace.

The current range splits into steel pens and plastic pens. The F-301, F-402, G-301, G-450, G-750 and M-701 share a stainless steel or brass build and accept Zebra refills, so a pen can last for years. The Z-Grip and Sarasa lines are lighter plastic pens aimed at classrooms and bulk office use; Sarasa gel ink dries quickly and resists smearing, which matters for left-handed writers and carbonless forms.

Nurses, warehouse staff and field technicians favor the F-301 because it clips into a pocket and survives drops. Teachers buy Sarasa and Z-Grip multipacks for grading and student use. Artists and calligraphers use the metallic brush pens for lettering. SNILLC lists about 87 Zebra Pen items priced from about $1 for refills to $65 for gift sets, with most items in stock.

Zebra Pen buying guide

How to pick the right Zebra Pen product and pack size.

  1. F-301 versus F-402

Both are stainless steel retractable ballpoints that take the same Zebra F-refill. The F-301 is slim and light with a textured steel grip. The F-402 adds a rubber grip and a heavier barrel for longer writing sessions. Choose the F-301 for pocket carry and the F-402 for desk use.

  2. Ballpoint or gel

Ballpoint ink in the F-series writes on almost any paper, does not bleed through and lasts a long time per refill. Sarasa and G-series gel ink is darker and smoother but uses ink faster. Pick 0.5 mm for small handwriting and forms and 0.7 mm for general notes and signatures.

  3. Matching refills

F-301, F-402 and F-701 pens use Zebra F-refills. G-301, G-450 and G-750 use the steel gel refill. Sarasa pens use Sarasa JF refills in matching tip sizes. Buy refills with the pens so the first empty does not send the pen to the trash.

  4. Pack sizes

Zebra pens come in 2-packs for retail, 12-packs for office supply and larger 24 and 36 count boxes for schools and resellers. Compare price per pen. A dozen F-301s at wholesale costs little more per pen than a single 2-pack at retail.

  5. Gift and promo sets

The Steel G-750 and M-701 gift set pairs a brass gel pen with a matching steel mechanical pencil in a box, which suits graduation and employee gifts. For engraving, the plain steel barrels of the F-301 and F-701 accept laser marking well.

Zebra Pen questions, answered

Straight answers about buying Zebra Pen products from SNILLC.

Are Zebra Pen products on SNILLC genuine?

Yes. SNILLC sells new, genuine Zebra Pen products in original manufacturer packaging. The F-301, Sarasa, G-750 and other pens listed are the same retail-packed items sold by Zebra Pen Corporation, not knockoffs or bulk loose pens.

Can I buy Zebra pens in bulk or wholesale?

Yes. Business members pay $49 per year for wholesale and case-pack pricing on about 87 Zebra items. Pens come 12 per box; for 6 or more boxes or pallet quantities, use the Request a bulk quote option in the cart.

What Zebra Pen products does SNILLC carry?

About 87 items: F-301, F-402 and Z-Grip ballpoints, Sarasa and Sarasa X20 gel pens, G-301, G-450 and G-750 gel pens, M-701 mechanical pencils, the V-301 fountain pen, metallic brush pens, Z-Grip retractable highlighters, StylusPen models, refills and the Steel G-750 and M-701 gift set.

Do you ship Zebra pens nationwide, and how fast?

Yes. Zebra orders ship within the USA from Rancho Cordova, California, with tracking. About 79 of the 87 listed items are in stock, and ready-to-ship items leave fastest. Transit time depends on your distance from Northern California.

Is there a minimum order for Zebra pens?

No. Retail shoppers can buy a single pen or refill pack. Business members get wholesale pricing on any quantity, and bulk quotes start at 6 boxes.

What refill fits the Zebra F-301?

The F-301 takes the Zebra F-refill, the same ballpoint refill used in the F-402 and F-701. It comes in fine and medium points in black and blue. Pull the pen apart at the center, swap the refill and the pen is good for another year or more of use.

What is the difference between Zebra Sarasa and Zebra G-series gel pens?

Sarasa is a plastic-barrel retractable gel pen with quick-drying ink sold in many colors and multipacks, aimed at everyday office and school use. The G-301, G-450 and G-750 are metal-barreled gel pens with steel gel refills built for durability and a heavier feel. Both write smoothly; choose by barrel material and budget.

Is the Zebra Sarasa gel pen good for left-handed writers?

Yes. Sarasa gel ink dries quickly, which reduces smearing for left-handed writers who drag their hand across fresh ink. The 0.5 mm tip puts down less ink and dries even faster than the 0.7 mm.

What lead does the Zebra M-701 mechanical pencil use?

The M-701 uses standard 0.7 mm lead and has a built-in eraser under the cap. It matches the F-701 and G-750 steel barrels, which is why it is sold in the Steel G-750 and M-701 gift set.

Do Zebra pens dry out in storage?

Ballpoint pens such as the F-301 store for years with the tip retracted. Gel pens like Sarasa should be stored capped or retracted and used within a couple of years for best flow. Keep boxes at room temperature, away from heat and direct sun.
